I'm gonna get flak for this but... Zanmu is like Keiki but better in every way.

• Morally dubious figure who nonetheless opposes the Animal Realm
• Hates the Animal Realm's oppression but wants to dominate people herself, thinking it's for their own good, but doesn't cause almost as many problems as them along the way, it's pretty much set from the beginning that she's the lesser of two evils
• Has hot and gay right-hand woman instead of blindly-obedient robots
• Wins in the end instead of losing
• MAKES THE INCIDIENT RESOLVERS GIVE UP WITH FACTS AND LOGIC

Seriously though after an increasing number of 100% pure evil characters (2-3 of which appear in this very game!) I'm glad we have a really interesting morally dubious antagonist, that I could see doing some f-ked up stuff in the future but mostly being on okay terms with Gensokyo because she genuinely loves it. I'm only disappointed that Yukari wasn't in this one because I think she and Zanmu could have an absolutely beautiful conversation. I should seriously find it in me to write that out.

Ok as someone who’s favourite character is Keiki I wouldn’t agree with the take of Zanmu being better than her because of another point brought up by another reblog bringing up their different roles in their respective games, this does make me wonder if Zanmu and Keiki are going to work together in the future because of how they share similar interests (i.e. wanting to take down the beast spirits). Since Keiki has had a lot of setup for coming back in 17, it feels like a natural progression for her. Either she hears about Zanmus win over the beast spirits and comes to her to make an alliance or Zanmu hears about Keiki and wants to make an alliance with/help her out. Either way, it could be a pretty interesting exploration of both their characters, plus they kinda complement each other with Keiki allowing for more direct confrontation and Zanmu taking care of behind the scenes control.

But yeah, I can see where your coming from, because I do wish Keiki did get to do more after 17, other than what we know about her from 17s story alone, she’s kind of a wasted character in that sense (I was hoping she’d show up in 19 to do something but sadly no), plus I’ve had to pick apart every detail that could give me a scrap of lore and backstory about her that I could find (to the point where I had to take so many of my headcanons and just make an OC out of them cuz they ended up so different and out there), so I do think that Zanmu got better development in her debut game than Keiki did in 17.

I drew Clownpiece because she’s adoreable and I haven’t drawn Clownpiece in my style yet so that changed literally last night lol

I have this idea where Junko makes Clownpiece some traditonal Chinese outfits (Since I am not Chinese I asked a friend of mine (TYSM btw if ur reading this) who is to help me with them and also looked for some refs on google, but please feel free to correct me if I made any mistake drawing them) because Clownpiece was curious and I thought it would be cute.

Speaking of Junko, I did a little sketch of her holding Clownpiece because she’s getting nostalgia to when her son was alive. Once again, mainly because the found family dynamic of Junko, Hecatia and Clownpiece is so adoreable IDK if I mentioned that already LOL

From what little I know of Touhou 19s story, the overall gist is that Yachie has a very very bad day, so I decided to make this little drawing of her coming back to the animal realm after Touhou 19 and having to deal with a passive aggressive Keiki. Enjoy.

A day before Touhou 19 came out, I drew some Hecajun art because this is one of my favourite ships in the entire series. I chose not to include Hecatias hat because it would just add too much clutter to the piece, and because I made the background blue I had to make Hecatias hair blue because making the background red would just go against the colour scheme I had and yeah this was more of a quick thing that I wanted to make so it’s not perfect, but I more so wanted to focus on the colours and the interaction between the two.

I remember having a weird dream that I had where me and two other people were magical girls, and we had to fight okina for some reason. Like, she was the only Touhou related thing in that dream it’s weird. Anyway, we were able to fly and I have sketches of what we looked like in a dream journal. The one on the far right was me and I was looking in their POV.

The place we were fighting in was some weird mall place that was really big and went really high up for some reason. So like, the way we found Okina to fight her was this weird door symbol thing and for some reason my character tried to throw Okina to the ground even though we were flying???? It’s dream logic go with it.

I was drawing Okina from memory so I had no idea what tf her hat was supposed to be like, I can only vaguely register that this was Okina because we all called her Okina in the dream and she vaguely looked like Okina (also looking at these drawings again, wtf was I on).

Anyways, Okina escaped and we had to fin her again, the dream ending just as we began the rematch. You know, now that I think about it more, I think my brain just made up a stranger rendition of the plot of Hidden Star in Four Seasons. Like, my main character was literally blue and had wings it was weird.

So a day or two afterward I decided to play Touhou 16 and I got VERY close to a 1cc, except during the Okina fight, I laughed to myself on how I barley managed to throw Okina and beat her. I guess she took offense to that because right on the last spellcard I died and my hopes for a 1cc went out the backdoor. Nowadays if I have a dream and it needs a villain or something, my brain just uses Okina as a placeholder. The only reason I was able to remember this dream is because as soon as I woke up that morning, I wrote it down to the best of my memory, along with some drawings of what happened.

So yeah, that was a very strange dream I had, there was more at the beginning of it but tbh, the Okina part was the only thing worth mentioning lol.
